![]() In 1983, ΑΤΩ purchased 202 North McKinley Avenue, the adjacent parcel next to the existing chapter house. Our term GPA was regularly the highest among fraternities, and the Chapter never finished out of the Top 3 fraternities from the mid 1970's into the 1990's. The largest group of members came from the College of Architecture & Planning, and around the CAP building ΑΤΩ became known as "ArchiTect Omega." Like the 1970's, the 1980's saw the brothers of ΑΤΩ excel academically. The Chapter undergraduate membership ranged between 55 to 70 members each year. In that school year, the Chapter initiated 25 men, and for the following 10 years averaged 22-27 initiated members each school year. In 1978, the Chapter began sending multiple delegates to the National Congress to attend a broader number of workshops, with a particular emphasis on recruitment. The Chapter had a large number of upperclassmen in that year, and after MayĬommencement, the number dwindled to just under 30 men. The first chapter house was established at 200 North McKinley Avenue, Octobecame the Indiana Theta Alpha Chapter of ΑΤΩ. The colony was granted full chapter status in the Summer of 1972, and on ΔΚΣ held is last meeting on October 24th, 1971, and the Ball State Colony of Alpha Tau Omega came into existence. ΔΚΣ narrowed it's possible fraternity affiliations to three, and selected to become a colony of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Ball State Interfraternity Council approved ΔΚΣ with the commitment to associate with an approved national fraternity. The Delta Kappa Sigma (ΔΚΣ) local fraternity was created in May, 1971. The Spartan Social Club had a desire to grow into a fraternity and prove what a "true fraternity" should be, and not what had become the norm at that time. ![]() At the time Greek Life at Ball State was not a popular activity, and many fraternities were stereotyped as party houses. The club continued to field IM teams and began sponsoring many philanthropic events for the campus and community like the Easter Egg Hunt for the Boys Club of Muncie, and "Chicken Feed", a bbq chicken luncheon for the Muncie and BSU Campus Police. The group registered as a BSU student organization under the name Spartan Social Club. Raw Meat fielded teams in numerous intramural sports, but also desired to help the campus and community. Augustine and the spring tradition of Viking, a historic ATO week long event, providing a proper ending to the semester.In the Fall Quarter of 1970, the Raw Meat Intramural Team was formed in Edwards Hall. Our events range from numerous socials and date nights, to The White Tea Rose Spring Formal in St. Furthermore, Alpha Beta’s recent Pledge Classes have boasted some of the highest GPAs among fraternities.Īlpha Tau Omega enjoys a consistently full social calendar, along with a prominent tailgating spot located in front plaza of the Miller Learning Center at which we enjoy exciting and enthusiastic game days. The Brothers of ATO are actively involved in the campus community through various organizations, societies, and leadership positions including Tate Society, the Leonard Leadership Program, Order of Omega, LEAD scholar program, Orientation Leaders, Georgia Recruitment Team, The Alumni Association, UGA Hero’s and Dawg Camp staff among others. Furthermore, the chapter actively participates in the local Relay For Life supporting The American Cancer Society. Our brothers actively support a dedication to philanthropy, with ATO raising over $35,000 over the past two years for various philanthropies such as UGA Miracle and UGA HEROs. Earl Leonard, retired Coca-Cola executive and benefactor of the Leonard Leadership Program, and Mr. ![]() ![]() Since that time, Alpha Beta has come to produce some of the university’s most accomplished alumni and finest students, including Mr. ![]() The Alpha Beta Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity was founded at the University of Georgia on December 9, 1878, making it one of the university’s oldest established chapters. Alpha Tau Omega would go on to become the first national fraternity. Each of these men shared a hope that the divisive wounds between the South and the North might be healed through fraternal bonds and a foundation in Christian principles. Following the Civil War, the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity was founded by three Confederate veterans at the Virginia Military Institute on September 11, 1865. ![]()
